Defected Records is an independent record label specialising in house music, established in 1999 by former AM:PM and Cooltempo A&R Simon Dunmore, and initially funded by London nightclub and label Ministry of Sound. The label’s success was immediate, with the first ever release, Soulseacher’s ‘Cant’ Get Enough’, reaching No.5 in the UK singles chart, and the hits continued to roll in ever since. Fast forward twenty years and the label is running events globally, including their own six day festival in Croatia, and has a number of impressive sub-labels. Musically, the label has stuck to its core identity and robust ethos whilst maintaining versatility to evolve and adapt, allowing it to be one of the longest running independent labels of its kind.
